Both the outsiders by S.E Hinton and praying by Kesha have very good themes. At some points they may even have the same theme. In the outsiders Pony boy has to deal with the pain of his parents being dead and the fear of getting beat up again. In praying Kesha has to deal the pain of the memories of being abused and the fear of it happening again. The theme in the outsiders is violence is never the answer. The theme in praying is never let fear and pain take over your life. Now here are some similarities and differences between the outsiders and praying.

First the similarities. The first similarity is pony boy and Kesha are both in pain. They both have things in their life that have hurt them mentally and emotionally. The next similarity is they both have internal and external pain. They both have people who are hurting them on the outside and they both have something that is hurting them on the inside. The last similarity is the whole book and the whole song has pain and fear throughout the book. Others in the  book and others in the song are obviously in pain.

Now for the differences. The first difference is Pony boy isn’t dealing with his pain and Kesha is. Pony boy is just keeping his feelings  and pain all inside while Kesha is pouring it out in song. The second difference is Pony boys internal pain is his parents died and its hurting him on the inside. His external pain is he keeps getting beat up. But Keshas internal pain is the memories of  being abused. Her external pain is being abused. The last difference is the themes. The outsiders theme is violence is never the answer. Praying’s theme is never let fear and pain take over your life.

The outsiders and praying have a lot of similarities and differences. And they may both have different themes but in both we learn that you should never let fear and pain take over your life because if you do you won’t be happy.
